Selection Policy

Club Demo: Selection Policy

A fair and transparent selection process is the backbone of a healthy club culture. This policy ensures that all members of Club Demo understand how teams are chosen, whether for social leagues or competitive tournaments.

1. Objectives

The primary goals of this policy are:

  • To ensure selection is based on merit, performance, and attitude.
  • To provide a clear pathway for player development.
  • To maintain a competitive and harmonious environment for all members.

2. Selection Criteria

The Selection Committee will evaluate players based on the following four pillars:

CriterionWhat we look for
PerformanceRecent form, consistency of draw shots, and conversion ability.
Team BalanceCompatibility between Lead, Second, Third, and Skip roles.
CommitmentRegular attendance at practice and availability for scheduled matches.
EtiquetteAdherence to the Laws of the Sport and a positive, supportive attitude toward teammates and opponents.

3. The Selection Committee

  • Composition: The committee shall consist of three members (e.g., Men’s Captain, Women’s Captain, and a nominated Selector).
  • Conflict of Interest: Selectors must recuse themselves from discussions regarding the selection of their immediate family members.
  • Confidentiality: All discussions within selection meetings are strictly confidential.

4. Process & Communication

  1. Availability: Members must mark their availability on the Club Demo Availability Sheet (physical or digital) by 5:00 PM every Tuesday.
  2. Posting Teams: Selected teams will be posted on the club noticeboard and via the club app by Wednesday evening.
  3. Late Changes: If a player becomes unavailable after selection, they must notify the Captain immediately. The Selection Committee reserves the right to fill the vacancy as they see fit.

5. Feedback and Appeals

We value our members' growth. If you are not selected for a specific team:

  • Feedback: Players are encouraged to ask a selector for constructive feedback on areas for improvement.
  • Appeals: If a member feels the policy was not followed correctly, they may submit a formal written appeal to the Club Secretary within 48 hours of the team posting.

Member Note: Selection is not just about who is the "best" bowler, but about creating the most effective unit for Club Demo. Every member plays a vital role in our success, regardless of the division or rink.
