Code of Conduct

Club Demo: Code of Conduct

At Club Demo, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, inclusive, and sporting environment. This Code of Conduct sets the standard for behavior expected from all members, guests, and visitors to ensure everyone enjoys the game of bowls in a safe and respectful atmosphere.

1. Core Principles

All members and guests are expected to uphold the following values:

  • Respect: Treat everyone with courtesy, regardless of their skill level, age, gender, or background.
  • Integrity: Play honestly and adhere to the Laws of the Sport of Bowls.
  • Sportsmanship: Win with humility and lose with grace.
  • Safety: Act in a manner that does not endanger yourself or others.

2. On-Green Etiquette

The "Spirit of Bowls" is defined by specific traditions. We expect all players to:

  • Punctuality: Arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time.
  • Green Protection: Only wear flat-soled bowls shoes. Never "dump" or drop bowls onto the surface.
  • Distractions: Stand still and remain quiet behind the head or behind the mat while a player is on the mat.
  • Positivity: Encourage teammates and refrain from using foul language or making derogatory remarks about opponents’ shots.

3. Clubhouse & Bar Behavior

As a licensed premises, Club Demo requires high standards of social conduct:

  • Responsible Drinking: Members must consume alcohol responsibly. Abusive or aggressive behavior toward bar staff or other members will not be tolerated.
  • Challenge 25: Support our staff in maintaining our license by providing ID if requested.
  • Cleanliness: Return glasses to the bar and ensure your table area is left tidy.
  • Dress Code: Maintain a neat and tidy appearance. While casual wear is accepted in the clubhouse, specific "Whites" or "Greys" may be required for formal matches.

4. Social Media & Communication

Members represent Club Demo even when they are offline:

  • Do not post comments on social media that could bring the club, its members, or the sport into disrepute.
  • Bullying, harassment, or "trolling" of fellow members online will be treated as a serious breach of this policy.

5. Prohibited Conduct

The following actions are strictly forbidden and may lead to immediate suspension:

  1. Physical violence or threats of any kind.
  2. Discrimination, harassment, or bullying (sexual, racial, or otherwise).
  3. Vandalism or intentional damage to club property or the green.
  4. Theft or unauthorized use of club funds.

6. Disciplinary Procedure

Breaches of this Code of Conduct will be handled by the Club Committee:

  • Step 1: Informal warning and discussion.
  • Step 2: Formal written warning.
  • Step 3: Suspension or permanent expulsion from the club.

Note: Serious incidents (e.g., physical assault or theft) may bypass Steps 1 and 2 and result in immediate expulsion and involvement of the authorities.
