Managing the "head" requires strict adherence to Law 13.1 regarding the "Possession of the Rink." Possession belongs to the player or team whose bowl is being delivered and is only relinquished once that bowl comes to rest. Law 12.1.3 specifies that any player controlling play from a position level with or in front of the jack must immediately move to their required position behind the jack as soon as a bowl is delivered. This transition allows the opposing player an unobstructed view and clear access to the green. While walking up the green, players must remain within the boundaries of their own rink to avoid distracting those on adjacent rinks (Law 13.2). These protocols ensure professional conduct and prevent interference during critical shots.
