The Skip is the designated leader of the team and has overall charge of the rink and tactical strategy, as defined by Law 40.1.8. They direct their teammates on which shots to play, usually standing at the head-end to provide a visual target and guidance on the required "line" and "weight." According to Law 40.1.9, if a Skip needs to leave the green for any reason, they must delegate their duties to another team member. The Skip’s role requires a deep understanding of the laws and excellent communication, as they are responsible for final decisions. Once the match is complete, the Skip must sign the scorecard to certify the final result.
