The delivery of a bowl is a continuous motion described in coaching manuals but regulated by the timing constraints of Law 11.2.2. A delivery is considered "complete" the moment the bowl leaves the player’s hand. To ensure a legal and effective shot, the player must maintain a balanced stance and a pendulum-like arm motion. Bending the knees to release the bowl close to the turf is not just a coaching tip; it is a practical necessity to ensure the bowl is "delivered" rather than "thrown." Under the laws, any bowl that is not delivered in the direction of play or is deliberately propelled in a way that could damage the green may be challenged by the umpire or opposing team.
